Principal News

Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom
she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Disability Parking Space
We want to remind everyone that the use of the Disability Parking Space on Dibbs Street is reserved for vehicles displaying the required Disability Parking Permit. There have been several recent occasions where vehicles have been parked in this space without the required permit displayed. While we are unsure if these vehicles belong to families from our school, it is essential that we remain aware of where we park including not blocking residential driveways.
KISS and DROP Zone
We have had a number of vehicles stopping on the road way, in front of buses in the bus bay, or across the footpath during the KISS and DROP period. While we understand that this time of the day can be frustrating we ask that families do not stop in this space and that you drive around the block to allow space for you to the drive into the designated zone. This is essential as it supports the safety of our students, road users and pedestrians. We appreciate your support in this matter.
We are also excited to inform you that our application for a Crossing Supervisor has been successful. We have been notified that an advertisement for this position will go out on Wednesday of next week.
Garden Group
We have a group of students who have been working hard to improve our garden spaces. One area they are currently focused on is the front garden. Keep an eye out over the next couple of weeks as they add more plants to continue beautifying this space. Some pots have also been added; these were decorated as part of our recent NAIDOC activities. We will also be placing the cross from the old school site, along with the statues of Mary and Bernadette to replicate the area that was on the old site. An image of the space from Rhodes Street is provided for your reference.

Sacrament of Confirmation
Congratulations to our 14 Confirmation candidates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Wednesday evening at our parish church.
It was a beautiful and prayerful ceremony where they were sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. A huge thank you to Bishop Greg for confirming our students and for his challenge to use these gifts from the Holy Spirit—not just receive them—and to Father Bing for all his guidance and support.
We are so proud of our newly confirmed students and pray that the Holy Spirit's gifts of wisdom and right judgment guide them to always choose to do what is right and live as confident witnesses of God's love

Today, our school community came together to celebrate a very special day in our Catholic faith: the Feast of the Assumption of Mary.
The Assumption is our belief that when Mary, the mother of Jesus, finished her life on Earth, God took her up to heaven, body and soul. It's a joyful celebration because it shows us God's incredible love for Mary, and it reminds us that she is in heaven praying for us all.
Our students in Kindergarten to Year 3 celebrated with a beautiful liturgy at school. A huge thank you to Mrs. Parker and the students of 1L for their wonderful leadership and for helping us remember Mary.
Meanwhile, our students in Years 4 to 6 caught a bus to our Parish church for a special Mass. It was fantastic to see so many of our parishioners there celebrating with us! Thank you to Mrs. Innes, the students of 6P and Father Bing for leading us in such a prayerful and meaningful Mass.
Thank you to all our students, staff, families and parishioners who helped us honour Mary and her special place in heaven. It was a day filled with reverence and joy.

Community and Schools Mass
Don't forget our Community and Schools Mass tomorrow evening 5:30pm at St Carthages Cathedral. We are still looking for one or two more readers to help. If you know your child will be there and is a confident reader, please contact Mrs Hague (kristy.hague@lism.catholic.edu.au) prior to 12:00pm tomorrow.
OLHC will provide the readers, offertory and BBQ Helpers. Thank you to all who have already offered their support!
Readers: Charlotte F, Milani H (looking for 1-2 more readers)
Offertory: Hudson R and Madeleine F (First Eucharist Candidates)
BBQ: Please see Mr Moloney when you arrive.
We look forward to seeing the OLHC community there tomorrow evening and supporting this wonderful initiative to build community with Lismore schools and wider community.

Newcastle Jets' Visit:
Last Friday as part of the Newcastle Jets tour we had the pleasure of hosting four of their players Lachlan Bayliss, Aleksandar Susnjar, Max Burgess and Kota Mizunuma. We saw their players swap the pitch for the playground as the Jet’s players gave our students the unique opportunity of playing soccer with professional players. Students thoroughly enjoyed showing off their skills while learning a thing or two from the Jet’s players.
After the games, the students gathered in the assembly hall for an open Q&A session, where they asked the players about their training routines, favorite matches, how they handle pressure, and even what they eat before a big game.
As the players left to cheers and high-fives, it was clear the day had left a lasting impression not just on the students, but on the players as well.
