Term 4 Week 2 Newsletter - 24.10. 25
Principal News

As we approach November 1st, we celebrate All Saints' Day. There are over 10,000 saints in the Catholic Church, who have each lived heroically virtuous lives, given their lives to others, and in cases, been martyred for their faith. They each became a saint through a specific process, first being recognised as ‘Venerable’, then ‘Blessed’, and finally, a ‘Saint’.
This is a special time in our school community to remember and celebrate the lives of the saints—not just the ones with feast days and stained-glass windows, but all holy men and women who inspire us to live lives of faith, kindness, and service. We encourage students to reflect on the examples of these inspirational figures and think about the small ways they can be a "saint" to others every day.
School Fees
This is a gentle reminder for families to check that their school fees are all up to date.
If you have not yet made your payment, we kindly ask that you do so at your earliest convenience. We understand that circumstances can sometimes make this difficult. If you are experiencing any challenges, please don't hesitate to contact our office to discuss a confidential payment plan.
Thank you again for your cooperation.
School Crossing Supervisor
The advertisement for a School Crossing Supervisor is still live via Transport NSW; unfortunately, they have been unable to fill this position at this stage. We ask that if you know anyone who might be interested, you let them know. We have included the advert flyer in the newsletter for you. We really hope they are able to fill this position soon, as this will improve safety for our community during pick-up and drop-off times.
Lismore Show Visit
What an adventure we had last week as we enjoyed our visit to the Lismore Show. I wish to thank those parents who came along with us for the day and supported our classes. In particular, I wish to congratulate all our students who represented our school in such a wonderful way during our visit. I was very proud of the way our school community was represented throughout the day. All students had fun, followed directions, made safe choices and showed wonderful manners as they visited the many displays. I think the highlight of the day far many students was the MONSTER TRUCK and MOTORBIKE DISPLAY.
It was also wonderful that we had so many students who entered various works in the show. We had lots of winners, all should be very proud of their achievements.

Summer Sports Trials- Touch Football
Last Friday, sixteen talented OLHC students came together to represent the school at the 2025 Summer Sports Trials, forming the boys' and girls' Touch Football teams. Competing against other teams in our Zone, both squads displayed exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the day. The teams battled under grueling heat all day, but their persistence never wavered. The girls' team in particular embodied a fierce competitive spirit, pushing through an incredible schedule of five games with no substitutions in the hot conditions. Their resilience was truly commendable.
The sheer determination shown by every student on the field was outstanding, and their efforts led to special recognition for a few individuals. A special congratulations goes out to Dominic, Nash, and Cleo, who were all chosen to compete in the highly competitive possibles vs. probables game held at the end of the day. This is a significant achievement that highlights their potential and solidifies their status as top players in the Zone.
Well done to all the students who participated! You were all excellent representatives for OLHC through the determination and sportsmanship you demonstrated on the field. Your commitment and effort made the school proud, and the experience gained will be invaluable as you continue your sporting journeys.

Harriett- PSSA Athletics
On Wednesday Harriett in Year 5 travelled to Homebush to compete in the State Athletics Championships. Harriett faced challenging conditions with temperatures at the stadium reaching close to 40 degree! She placed 22nd overall in a very competitive field and we are so proud of her achievements. Congratulations on yet another successful Athletics campaign Harriett!
