John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Remembrance Day
On Monday 11th November, our beautiful Year 1 students led our school community in a very special liturgy.
Their story, the story of all Australians who have died or suffered in war and armed conflict, has been passed to each one of us. By our remembrance today, we show our respect and gratitude for their bravery and sacrifice. We are keeping their memory alive so that they won't be forgotten.
Our freedom is a result of their courage and ultimate sacrifice.
Lest We Forget.

Christmas Tableau
The OLHC Christmas Tableau has been a part of our history and traditions for over 42 years and prior to this, another 20 years in the Lismore community. As the end of the year approaches, our children and teachers are busily preparing for our Christmas Tableau and we are very excited to welcome all families to share this special event with us
Please feel free to bring a rug, afternoon picnic food and your own drinks. We will also have the Lions club selling sausage sandwiches ($2.50 each) and we will be holding our Christmas Ham and prize raffles, so be sure to bring some spare change.
We are seeking the generosity of any families or family businesses interested in donating a prize for our raffles on the night. Please email me at michael.piccoli@lism.catholic.edu.au if you would like to contribute.

Enrolment 2025
It would be greatly appreciated if families could notify our school office as soon as possible if your son/daughter will not be attending OLHC in 2025. We have a number of applications for places at our school for 2025, and it would be good to be able to offer places where known vacancies will be occurring. If you are relocating or moving your child to another school, please email the school at liss@lism.catholic.edu.au
Kiss and Drop
Thank you to all our families using the new kiss and drop. You have been absolutely amazing in supporting this new initiative and it is working extremely well. I have had so much positive feedback about how easy it is to use and most importantly that it is much safer for our children. THANK YOU
Year 1 Writing
Earlier in the week, Year 1 invited me in to read and celebrate their wonderful writing with them. I was very impressed and asked Year 1 to send me their writing to put in our newsletter.
Year 1 has been learning to use descriptive language in their writing. For this task they wrote a description of this scene as a little girl named Tilly thought about how she could rescue her treasures that were trapped under a step in her room.
Tilly took a little time to stare at the moon. She loved watching the beautiful flowers dance. But she was so sad because her treasures that were very special were gone. How could she rescue them? Asta
Tilly gazed out her window to look at the silver moon. The trees were moving softly in the sky as Tilly watched out her window. She was thinking about how she could rescue her treasures. Ava
Tilly opened the window and looked at the shiny, silver moon. She heard the branches moving softly. All she could think of was her treasures that were trapped tightly under the step. How could she rescue them? Rocky
Tilly looked out of her window and felt the dust run into her hands as she looked at the beautiful stars. She looked straight at the moon and it shone brightly on her face. She was remembering her trapped treasures. How could she rescue them? Luka
Tilly was gazing at the shining stars. She watched the tree shadows waving against the gentle breeze, but all she could think of was her very special treasures that were trapped tightly under a step covered up with very heavy carpet. How could she rescue them? Archie
Tilly was gazing at the shiny moon. She watched the dark shadows as the tree moved swiftly in the wind. All she could think about was her treasures. How could she rescue them? Claire
Tilly looked out of the window at the glistening moon as the last little bit of summer fell into the palm of her smooth hands. As the trees made a sweet tune, she thought of her trapped treasures. How could she rescue them? Marlow
Tilly stared out of her window as she felt the last bit of summer air. She was imagining what her next day would be like without her treasures. How could she rescue them? Jordy
Tilly was staring out her window at the shiny stars. She heard the wind move slowly in the trees as she thought quietly about her treasures. How could she rescue them? Charlotte C
Tilly gazed at all of the sparkly stars as the trees moved swiftly. Her treasures were covered up in carpet in a large box. How could she rescue them? Reggie
Tilly opened the window and it was very beautiful as she saw a shadow. She was very sad because her treasures were trapped under the step. How could she rescue them? Lucas
Tilly stared out the window, looking at the silver moon. The stars were twinkling brightly in the sky. She was quietly thinking sadly about her treasures. How could she rescue them? Evie
Tilly gazed at the shiny moon. She looked at the twinkling stars in the moonlight. All she was thinking of was her special treasures. How could she rescue them? Elsie
Tilly looked at the silver moon out her window. She watched the shooting stars zooming across the sky. All day she tried to lift the step up, but it was no use. She wanted to get her treasures out. How could she rescue them? Thea
Tilly gazed at the shining stars. She watched the moon glisten and shine brightly. All she could think of was her treasures tightly trapped under the step. How could she rescue them? Nina
Tilly looked up and she saw stars and the silvery moon. She watched the bright, shining stars zooming across the night sky as they shined. All she could think of was her trapped treasures under the step. How could she rescue them? Alexander
Tilly gazed out her window looking at the beautiful moon. She was warm in the beautiful air and she waved her hand softly in the night air. She thought many days about her treasures that were trapped in the secret step. How could she rescue them? Willow
Tilly gazed out of the window at the silver moon. She watched the stars twinkle in the sky. Milla D
Tilly was thinking about her treasures as she looked out her window and watched the stars shining in the night sky. She was quietly sad as she thought of her treasures in the step. How could she rescue them? Tallis
Tilly calmly gazed out of her window at the bright, shiny stars. She watched the beautiful birds singing in the birdhouse in the cool under the bright moon. She couldn’t stop thinking about her treasures trapped in the cool and dark of her step. How could she rescue them? Charlotte W
Tilly looked out of the window at the silver moon. She watched the beautiful tree move in the dark. She was desperate and wished her treasures would come back. How could she rescue them? Violet
Tilly gazed out of her window to see the moon. She saw the bats eating fruit and plums. All she could think about was her treasures trapped under the carpet. How could she rescue them? Liam
Tilly gazed out of the window at the sparkling stars. She was imagining that she was feeling her treasures trapped under the dark step. How could she rescue them?Sophia
Tilly gazed out of the window. A little bit of dust went into the palm of her hands as she thought about her treasures trapped under the carpet. How could she rescue them? Dustin
Tilly gazed out of the window at the white moon. She just listened to the sound in the trees. All she could think of was her special things stuck in the step. How could she rescue them? Rhylee
Tilly looked out of her window. She watched the moon move slowly in the sky. All she could think of was the next day and that she might get her treasures back. How could she rescue them? Regan
Tilly gazed out of her window to look at the silvery moon. She watched the shooting stars zooming across the sky. All day she tried to lift the step up to rescue her treasures, but it was no use. How could she rescue them? Theodore
Pirahnas don’t eat bananas. They eat feet, knees and bums. Not apples, beans or bananas! It’s all very nice, but their favourite food is bum. Ethan

Sports News
At OLHC, we love celebrating the sporting achievements of all our students. Summer Sports Trials
During Week 4, we had a number of Year 4 and Year 5 students who participated in the Summer Sports Trials. This is a representative pathway; if successful, the students will progress to DIO.
Congratulations to the following students who have progressed to DIO.
Basketball: Patrick Collins, Mason Box, Bly Bashforth, Tilly Preston and Harriett Johnston
Softball: Noah Middleton, Ethan Ramsey and Ellie Brooker (Trials to be confirmed next year)
Zone Touch Football Trials
On Friday, November 8th, eight students in Years 4 and 5 traveled to Woodlawn to compete in the Touch Football Gala Day. This was a representative pathway to progress on to DIO. Unfortunately, no students progressed on, but the quality of skills they displayed made it very challenging for the selectors. Well done to all the boys, and a big thank you to Mr Denny for coaching them on the day.
Shukokai Karate
What is Shūkōkai Karate? Shūkōkai Karate is based on the Tani-Ha Shito-Ryu style of karate whose origins date back to Japan. It builds character and teaches students to respect themselves, each other and the art of Shūkōkai Karate. Our mission is to teach students to cope with everyday stresses, helping them to be confident in who they are and to solve problems without having to fight.
Congratulations to Archer Donnelly who received his warrior green belt on Wednesday 13/11/24 for Shukokai Karate. This is an outstanding achievement for Archer and as a school, we celebrate this achievement with you. If you're interested in hearing more about Shūkōkai Karate please have a chat with Archer.
Sports Classification and Multisports
Opportunities for students with disabilities to get involved in sports are available at various levels throughout the school sport structure, from participation to elite. The participatory (or provisional) level does not require classification, however, if an athlete wishes to compete at a regional, state, national or international level, they will need to gain classification through the appropriate sporting organisation.
If you are interested in investigating the process of classifying your child, please use the following link to find out more information - https://csnsw.sport/students-with-a-disability
