First Eucharist Celebration at Parish Mass

Last Saturday, our parish and school community came together in joy and prayer as a group of our students received the Sacrament of First Eucharist at our parish Mass. Surrounded by their families, friends, and parishioners, the children were welcomed to the Lord’s table for the very first time.

The celebration was a truly special moment in their faith journey, reminding us all of the gift of the Eucharist as the source and summit of our Catholic life. The children participated beautifully in the liturgy, and their reverence and excitement were a witness to us all.

We thank Fr Bing for leading our parish in such a meaningful celebration and for guiding our children as they prepared to receive this sacrament. We are also grateful to our teachers and families who supported the children in their preparation through prayer, learning, and encouragement.

Let us continue to pray for these young people as they deepen their friendship with Jesus and live out their faith in their daily lives.

Grandparents’ Day Celebration

On Friday 19th September, our school was filled with joy as we welcomed our grandparents and special friends for our Grandparents’ Day Celebration.

The morning began with wonderful performances from our choir and dance groups, delighting our visitors and setting a joyful tone for the day. Our Year 6 students then warmly served a special morning tea, creating a chance for families to gather and share in conversation.

We then joined together for a beautiful liturgy led by our Kindergarten students. Their prayerful leadership reminded us of the love, guidance, and wisdom that grandparents bring into our lives and how truly blessed we are to have them in our community.

It was a memorable morning filled with love, gratitude, and celebration. We thank our grandparents for being such an important part of our school family and for the precious role they play in the lives of our children. We love having you at school!

Sports News

At OLHC, we love celebrating the sporting achievements of all our students. If your child has a special achievement that you would love for us to share with the school community, please send any photos and a short paragraph outlining their achievement to Mr Denny - zachary.denny@lism.catholic.edu.au

Polding Athletics:

Earlier this month four OLHC students travelled to Newcastle to represent the Lismore Diocese at the Polding Athletics carnival. From all reports it was a great day of sportsmanship and strong competition. All four students competed well in their events with Anika in discus and shot put, Nash in high jump, Ethan in the 100m and Shot put and Harriett in Shot put.  A big congratulations to Harriett who placed third in her event with a 9.08m throw, this guarantees her a spot in the Polding Athletics team, which are due to compete at the NSWPSSA Athletics Carnival in Sydney next month.

We are all extremely proud of all our students' efforts and wish Harriett all the best at PSSA Athletics.

Richmond Zone Cricket Trials:

On Wednesday of last week, five OLHC boys braved the heat to compete for a spot in the Richmond Zone Cricket Team. The boys endured an hour long net session of bowling and batting, demonstrating great skill and resilience along the way. Congratulations to Reuben who was selected to attend the Diocesan Cricket Trials in November. Well done to all boys who trialled for the team, we are very proud of your efforts!

Netball Grand Final:

A huge congratulations to four of our talented students — Lily, Ivy, Isla, and Paige — who wrapped up an incredible netball season over the weekend with their team, Phoenix Ice.

After a fantastic win in the preliminary finals, the girls took to the court for the grand final and gave it their all. In a close and hard-fought match, Phoenix Ice narrowly missed out on the win, finishing with a 12–8 result.

While it wasn’t the ending they were hoping for, we’re so proud of how far they’ve come — making it all the way to the grand final is a huge achievement! Their teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship have been inspiring.

Well done, Lily, Ivy, Isla, and Paige — and congratulations to the whole Phoenix Ice team on an amazing season! 💙🔥

Swimming Carnival:

We’re excited to announce that our OLHC Swimming Carnival will be held on Thursday, 12th December at the Lismore Baths.

  • Freestyle

Students may also nominate for the Individual Medley.

To participate in competitive events, students must be able to confidently swim the nominated distance without stopping.
