School Prayer Garden

Congratulations to our gardening group, who have been doing some wonderful work to beautify our school grounds. A part of this work has also been about connecting our current site to the traditions of our school. You will notice the cross and statues in the pictures that are not only symbols of our Catholic faith but also link us to our history. The link below provides families with information about the significance of the cross and statues for our school community. This is also being shared with our students and has been worked on by Year 6. In the coming weeks, students will continue to work on this space with plans for students to decorate small rocks to be placed around the base of the cross. We thank Mrs Rodda for leading this work.
Year 2 Maternity Replacement Teacher
Majella will be taking maternity leave beginning in Term 4. We are thrilled for her and her family as they prepare to welcome a new baby!
We are excited to announce that during her absence, Mr. Mattew Turner will be serving as the replacement teacher. We look forward to welcoming Matt to our wonderful school community.

AP Appraisals
On Friday, 5th September (Kristy) and Monday, 8th September (Katie), will be involved in their respective Assistant Principal appraisal process as part of their contract conditions with the Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools.
The appraisal process seeks information from a variety of people associated with the school. The process aims to highlight the positive aspects of the Assistant Principal’s performance and identify areas for further development.
A timeline will be constructed to suit the needs of the school community. A panel consisting of the school Principal as Chair and a Regional Assistant Director from the Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools will conduct the appraisal.
The full Assistant Principal appraisal process involves:
- a survey and self-appraisal statement completed by the Assistant Principal
- surveys of school staff and Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools personnel
- Input by the Principal
- input as arranged with the Parish Priest
- interviews with school staff
- interviews with any parents who wish to present
- a formal interview with the Assistant Principal by the panel
Any parents who wish to make contact with the panel are welcome to do so by contacting the Principal before the appraisal date. Please note, not all those that wish to be interviewed may be accommodated.
Thank you for your support of the school’s leadership team.
Yours sincerely,
Brendan Moloney
Chair Principal

Sports News

Diocesan Athletics:
Earlier this week, nine students from our school proudly represented the Richmond Zone at the Diocesan Athletics Carnival held in Coffs Harbour. This highly competitive event brought together top athletes from across the diocese, and our students rose to the occasion with determination, grit, and great sportsmanship.
Competing in a range of events including sprints, distance races, high jump, discus, and shot put, each student gave their all and performed exceptionally well against tough competition.
We’re excited to share that five of our students have now qualified for the Polding Athletics Carnival, which will take place in Newcastle next month. This is an incredible achievement, as Polding represents one of the highest levels of primary school sport in our region.
Congratulations to all nine of our athletes for reaching the Diocesan level — a testament to your talent and hard work. And to our four Polding qualifiers, we wish you the best of luck as you prepare to compete on an even bigger stage!
A big thank you goes to the families, staff, and Richmond Zone coordinators who supported the students throughout the event. Your encouragement and organisation helped make this opportunity possible.
We are so proud of all our athletes!

Noah (Polding Softball):
We are incredibly proud of Noah, who recently represented Polding at the NSW PSSA Softball Championships — a fantastic achievement that reflects his dedication, talent, and passion for the game.
The championships brought together the top primary school softball players from across New South Wales, with Noah earning his place on the Polding team. While wet weather unfortunately caused delays and some event cancellations, Noah made the most of every opportunity, showcasing his skills and determination against some of the best young players in the state.
Well done, Noah — your hard work, commitment, and sportsmanship have made us all proud!

At OLHC, we love celebrating the sporting achievements of all our students. If your child has a special achievement that you would love for us to share with the school community, please send any photos and a short paragraph outlining their achievement to Mr Denny - zachary.denny@lism.catholic.edu.au
