Principal News

Dear Families,
Welcome back to what promises to be another exciting year at OLHC! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break and that you're as eager as we are to get back into the swing of learning and growing. I am particularly Blessed to have been so warmly welcomed by our school community in my role as Acting Principal. It has been an absolute pleasure to begin to get to know the community. I have been so impressed with the students and how they have settled into the new school year.
We know starting at a new school year can be a little daunting, but we're committed to making the transition as smooth and welcoming as possible. We also want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our teachers and staff. They have been busy preparing for the year ahead and are excited to welcome your children back to the classroom. Their passion for education and commitment to our students is truly inspiring. Communication is key to a successful partnership between home and school. We encourage you to stay connected with us, if you have any questions, please contact us.

We invite all our families to our 2025 Parent Information Night
5:30pm Session 1: Classroom Teacher Information in classrooms
6:00pm Session 2: Repeat of Session 1

KISS and DROP ZONE
We appreciate families' patience as we continue to implement our Kiss and Drop Zone. I would like to remind families of the following points.
- Use the safety door when children are entering/exiting the car
- Move down to the end of the zone as far as possible to allow space for additional vehicles to enter behind
- Do not park in the driveway entrance; this can block the driveway, buses and pedestrians
- Turn left to enter the driveway only (not right across the traffic) and exit to the left only as per the image to allow traffic flow
Ultimately, this procedure is to make drop off and pick up as easy as possible for families and to ensure the safety of our community.

2025 Sacramental Program
Receiving the sacraments is a special time in our journey of faith, and it is the means by which baptised children can complete their journey into full membership of the Catholic Church. They are community events, which remind us of the role of the community in our faith life.
We look forward to sharing our 2025 Sacramental Program with our students and their families. Further information will be available when we have finalised the dates for our Sacraments. In our parish, students receive their sacraments as detailed below:
- Confirmation: When your child is in Year 3.
- Reconciliation: When your child is in Year 4, and has received the sacrament of Confirmation.
- First Holy Communion: When your child is in Year 4, and has received the sacraments of Confirmation and Reconciliation.

Kindergarten 2025 First Day

On Friday 7th February, we welcomed our 2025 Kindergarten class. They had a great first day! To celebrate the day, Kindergarten shared the story 'Where is the Green Sheep?'. They then went around the school to hunt for the missing sheep only to find him in their classroom!
We congratulate Kinder on a fabulous first week.

Year 6 commenced their leadership journey this week by supporting our Kinder buddies. They have done a great job of supporting Kinder to get to know our school, our expectations and to feel comfortable on the playground. Congratulations Year 6.
